This morning at Mogadishu, Banadir regional administration court begins the hearing of the case of Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame. Warsame, an opposition party leader and the former presidential candidate is accused of treason.
Three days ago, Somalia’s attorney general Ahmed Dahir accused the Somali politician of having links with other governments. On the night, Somali forces raided his home, killing four of his guards before arresting Warsame.
Warsame was released from jail this morning three days after his arrest. Relatives and politician friends are present in the court as it awaits evidence from the attorney general.
