Interim Algerian president Announces Date for New Elections

Algeria’s newly appointed interim president Abdelkader Bensalah announced that elections in the North African country will be held on the 4th of July shortly after his appointment yesterday according to state media.

Bensalah cannot run in the elections promised his interim administration would do everything it can to ensure the coming elections are free and fair.

Algerian youth remain in the streets demanding the total dismantling of the previous administration with immediate effect close to two weeks after the country’s president resigned.
