2 Students Injured in Protests Against Cancellation of National Exams i n Beledweyne Town

Two students have been confirmed to have sustained injuries in protests against the decision to halt the national secondary certificate examinations by the Education Ministry of the federal government in Beledweyne town.

The protests in Beledweyne are part of demonstrations by final year students across the nation protesting the decision released by the ministry yesterday.

Police sources in the town confirmed to the media that some officers had opened fire using live bullets on the protesting students after they tried to enter a hotel complex where supervisors from the education ministry were staying which the soldier were guarding.

The two injured students have been confirmed to be from the Sigma and Sheikh Maxamad schools in Beledweyne town.
